About My Stories
Hi, my name is Kevin. I'm a semi-retired computer software guy who lives in a little town called Vernon, in Beautiful BC, Canada.
This picture is me at the store, buying some colourful M&M candies, which I love. (I have an awful sweet tooth :-). I smile like that all the time, not just when I'm buying candies!
I was frustrated at the difficulty of learning vibrato because none of the traditional teaching methods were helping me. The teachers could all play vibrato very well, but I felt that their traditional words and examples (although well intended) were not telling me exactly what I was doing wrong, or exactly what I should do to improve my vibrato.
So I turned to my university physics training for help. I knew that if I could discover exactly WHAT motions were required for good vibrato, HOW they worked, and WHY they worked, I would be able to solve my vibrato problems.
And so I did. I solved my vibrato problems, got rid of my frustrations, wrote a few books on vibrato, and started this website to help other people. I hope that it helps you.
When I'm not working on this website or learning more violin, I try to keep both my mind and body active. Either indoors reading and computing, or doing sporty things outside. It's a beautiful world that we live in (violin music included), so I try to do the best I can in the time that I have left.
Wishing everyone health and happiness (and a satisfying vibrato too),
